Fiction

I like to write. I want to share my writing with you.

Over the past few years, I’ve written some pieces while participating in a wonderful writing class led by my friend and published author, Dr. Maggie Mears.  I’ve also written some pieces just for fun.  And I’m working on a novel.  I’m committed to sitting on a sofa with Ellen Degeneris or Jay Leno and discussing my new best-seller.  I may, from time to time post excerpts here for your feedback.  Your feedback on any of my stories is GREATLY appreciated!!  What do you like?  What works?  What doesn’t work?  What would make it better?  I appreciate all you have to say.

  • Blue Skies - This story was an assignment about creating conflict. I started with a computer generated first sentence and took it from there. It’s one of my favorite pieces because it’s different than anything I’d done up to that point. 4/2008
  • Blue Skies (play) – We had an assignment to turn that story into a short play. I love how this turned out! 4/2008
  • F*** You, I’m Outta Here – I walked out on a job last year. It was a first for me. This is the beginning of a bigger story but it starts there as I was trying to make sense of it for myself. 8/2009
  • Washed Away – Another favorite. We made a list in class of weather cliches and had to write a story incorporating as many as possible. I was a little angry that day and this was quite a release. 10/2008
  • Safe - Ah, Joey. My favorite character. I’ll post more Joey stories. It’s fiction. I swear. 8/2008
  • I Hate the Circus – Short piece just for fun. 1/2008
  • Dead – This was a class assignment. Start with three items. I got bone, wheelbarrow and bird. Create the scene first, then add movement and then add life. This is what came pouring out. 9/2008
  • Music – Random thoughts about music and relationships and getting old. 1/2009
  • Through the Window – This was written for a magazine contest I never actually entered. The story had to start with “Through the window of the taxi…” 2/2009
